With Field Day coming, I need to build some line filters for a multi station setup. The goal is two-fold, reduce hash from the Honda inverter-generator and reduce conducted noise from other stations.

Advice? Honda generators put out trash as a common mode signal on the green wire. It is NOT acceptable to choke the green wire, but it IS acceptable to choke all three conductors. Thus, the solution

Yeah, I noticed this first time I used it. I made up a little pigtail extension cord, and used a type 31 ferrite. Forget the exact model, but it is about 2.5" long with about a 1" or so inner diamete

Yes -- that's what I'm using on power cables with permanently attached connectors. I'm using 1.4-in i.d. cores when I there's no plug attached yet. 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________

So why are x uH's of green wire inductance ok in the three wire case and not for a single green wire (engineering pls, not UL regs)? Grant KZ1W Advice? Honda generators put out trash as a common mode

First, if all three conductors go through the choke, a fault on the circuit will blow a breaker faster. Second, at RF, the capacitance between conductors tends to put the conductors in parallel. 73,

Look up Cutler-Hammer CHSP-ULTRA for the generator and use typical end-point protectors at the stations... Good Luck, dave wa3gin First, if all three conductors go through the choke, a fault on the c
