Mark, I observed the same in Yaesu rotors. Untill today nobody gave me a valuable answer ( so I leaved the origanal number of balls, but used a special grafit gearbox grease inside ) Just curious wha

If the balls rub against each other they can't roll so having the race too full could increase friction. Some bearings have nylon spacers to evenly distribute the balls around the race to avoid this.
