I just measured the resistance between the neutral wire on one outlet in my shack and the SPG entry panel, which is grounded through 35 feet of surprise, it measured (DC) 88 ohms. Isn't that far too

If there is just a little current flowing (or voltage differential) it would screw up your ohm meter reading. Did you measure with the main breaker to the whole house turned off so none of the lines

Maybe, or maybe not. I suggest that you make a simple spreadsheet for the expected resistance based on the length of wire from outlet to panel, from panel to the ground rod(s), and your shack to the

I'd check to make sure it's not a voltage difference confusing the ohmmeter. (If you measure the voltage between N and Gnd, it should be close to zero...) ____________________________________________

I only see about 4 mv between the neutral and my shack ground. I'm suspicious that's maybe *too* low, and could be reflecting a high resistance somewhere in my grounding path. Wouldn't hurt to check

Thanks for this and other pointers, Jim. I have an outlet tester by A.W. Sperry Instruments that seems to cover a lot of "ground" . It puzzles me that it has an indication that it says reflects "open

The "ground" they're talking about is the green wire between the outlet and the breaker panel. That suggests there is a problem with wiring to that outlet, specifically an open green wire. OR -- it m
