Romex for Rotor cable? When I was building my new home in the woods, I had to run power, phone, water and some signal lines. I didn't want to do a clear-cut for the power lines so I asked the power c

First, for any reasonable rotor you don't need 8 conductors that big. Run one 14-2 or 12-2 with ground to power the motor and use something cheaper and easier to work with for the indicator circuits.

I've been using plain old 14/2 house wiring for years for rotor cable, especially for long runs. While the life expectancy for it in sun drenched climates is probably a little more than ten years, wh

I use house wire for the rotator motor. Since my runs are long and the motors are large I needed a large conductor. The clear outside coating flakes off after a few years, but otherwise house wire ho

You're right, of course, David. BUT -- 14-3 is pretty cheap, simply because it's sold in quantity, and is sufficiently robust to hold up better than smaller stuff that is readily available to consume

This is not a recommendation for some one else, but: Were it me (and it's not), I'd not worry about Romex in conduit. I would seal the house/shack end with enough foam to prevent fumes from entering
