After much deliberation we have decided to shunt feed my Trylon for 80m. Now we need to layout a bunch of radials. Has there been any discussion on using electric fence wire vs. copper wire? Does the

Mike: One of the biggest misconceptions going around today is that ground level radials should be a 1/4 wave long. See the K3LC article in the April/May 2004 NCJ. There are many sources of informatio

any discussion on Depending on soil and any direct current flowing in the ground radials, you can eat up aluminum or galvanized or cad plated steel wire pretty fast. I'd stay with copper. Bare or in

For a given quantity of wire being available for radials, say 1,000 ft as in the example, making the radials one quarter wavelength long may not result in the most efficient radial system. 73 Jim ___

say 1,000 ft as in long may not result in OK, that makes perfect sense to me. 73 Tom _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wir
