I am not sure what you're trying to accomplish. I would not solder anything structural. You can weld aluminum very nicely. I machined a custom top plate and had it welded to a Universal Tower section

In general, if you can't weld aluminum (TIG, etc), you should be crimping, bolting, clamping, all the while being aware of the issues with dissimilar metals. Soldering aluminum is a parlor trick and

Brazing is the way to go, depending on specific application. Brazed aluminum is harder and often stronger than aluminum itself. Keep in mind, the brazed joint will not bend as easily.  Sent from Blue
