One thing I've done that works good it to use a pair of vice grips and a screwdriver. Put the tip of the screwdriver on top of the end of the element with the handle pointing back towards the boom. C

My brother-in-law, KA3LZM, works for the Werner ladder Company in the machine shop. He recommends pouring a Coke down the stuck elements. Then try to rotate the elements apart w/o crimping them. 73 C
