ORIGINAL MESSAGE: -- REPLY FOLLOWS -- Interesting thought about the Teflon. And fastening is indeed important. Ideally you want some kind of strain relief so the wire does not flex from a hard point.

I had a Lightning Bolt 5-band quad up for 11 years, until an ice storm snapped the boom last Feb. When I took it down, the wires were still like new. I believe they were conposed of an alloy used in

I bought a bunch of stranded #14 and #12 wire from Davis RF several years ago and had terrible results with it. So have several of my friends. It simply doesn't hold up well. Jim Brown K9YC _________

One thing to remember about insulated wire is that it has a velocity factor at RF. If memory serves it is about 97-98% for PVC and Ive no idea about Teflon. Carl KM1H ________________________________

Jim, you must be referring to Flex-Weave which is supplied by Davis. I believe it is 19 strand. Although it does make for a nice neat looking quad (It handles like cord rather than stiff wire.), it w

That wire sounds good to me Jack. If it's insulated, your elements will be about 2 per cent smaller than for bare wire. Don't connect it in too rigid a fashion at the arms. I use a cheap copy of the
