I put a new xm240 together (after a number of parts issues) and when testing it with a mfj 259 it is resident at 2:7 to 1 at 5926.0 shows 10:1 anywhere else tried 2 baluns and feed lines. Could this

Are you close to a strong RF field? Iv seen where interference can give false readings on the MFJ analyzers. Have you tried it directly to your radio and checked it? How high up is the antenna? Skip,

How high was the antenna when you checked it with the MFJ? You can check the continuity of the loading coils with an ohm meter. If you are using a coax wound choke you can check that too with an ohm

I agree with Skip. Use a decent SWR bridge and look at the SWR. I suspect you will find the correct SWR. Sure the coax could be bad but if its new from a dealer that should not be the case. I have a

I helped put a new one together many years ago. It was a well built antenna, but, depending on where and how it was installed, it could have corroded somewhere. Looking at the instructions, it appear

The MFJ259 is pretty useless in an RF environment. It has very poor selectivity to overload. Found this tuning 40 and 80m verticals 4 miles from a BCB station. Newer SWR meters are much more resistan

Newer SWR meters are much more resistant, but still can be overloaded. The alternative is to try 5 to 10w transmit, whatever makes the radio swr or external meter read reliably and sweep the band. Or

I just watched a couple of NanoVNA H4 youtube videos. That looks like a nice little antenna analyzer that is overly complicated if you just want to see the SWR curve. John KK9A Or get something like

John KK9A It's as simple or complex as you want to make it. You don't even have to do the calibration if you don't want to, and you're happy with moderate accuracy measuring S11. What's useful about

Bruce, This may have nothing to do with your problem, but I am curious if the loading coils you received from MFJ/Cushcraft with your XM240 are covered in black shrink wrap or a dark gray epoxy? In J
