I would replace them with a LED device (need a series resistor). I have the 2800 Rotor, probably the same Control Box. Lets see how long the bulbs last here in the land of high AC lines !! 73, Dick,

IF you are dealing with a variable voltage (unregulated) power source, and want to feed an LED (which are current devices), you can use an LM-117 http://cache.national.com/ds/LM/LM117.pdf scroll down

No, it was pretty painless. I ignored the light, clipped the leads from it, and used them to feed my LEDs. The controller is fairly easy to get apart and the manual clearly shows the circuitry, even
