I am new to this so here comes another odd question.... If you feed a vertical antenna with 50 ohm coax do you need a choke or a balum at the feed point? Thanks... ___________________________________

What's a balum? If you mean "balun," a current balun, which can be an RF choke type wound of the coax itself, is always a good idea to decouple the feedline and prevent it from becoming an undesired
