W1XT and myself have observed arcing (through 600 volt insulation) when the radials came in contact with each other. -0- To which I have to append...that's 600V @ 60Hz! God knows what it is at 7 MHz.
what it is It's a whole lot higher than 600 volts. 600V is the listed insulation rating, not the breakdown voltage. Fresh insulation would hold off at least a few kV peak. The wire-to-wire voltage,
I have 100 BARE COPPER radials pinned to my lawn and waiting for Spring growth to absorb them into the thatch. Do I have to worry about small animals or my XYL walking out there when I'm transmitting
I guess it depends on how much SOUP you are running.... Bill Coleman, AA4LR, PP-ASEL Mail: aa4lr@arrl.net Quote: "Not within a thousand years will man ever fly!" -- Wilbur Wright, 1901 ______________
waiting for Spring growth to absorb them into XYL walking out there when I'm elevated? The nice thing about large non-resonant systems is the fields are distributed over a very large area. That mean
