Hi all, Can anyone tell me if it's OK to install a 40' tower, made from four 10-foot sections of Rohn 25G, as a self-suppoting tower? The antenna that wpould be on the tower is a small omni-direction

Without knowing the windload, it is hard to make a guess. The regular base for Rohn 25 guyed tower is 2' 8" by 2' 8" by 3' deep. Rohn 25 is not designed to be self-supporting, but my guess is 2.5 yar

I wouldn't build on a guess if that tower is placed where it might fall on something valuable. It isn't very difficult to calculate dimensions for a base that will resist a specified overturning mome

I tried this and it worked until a hurricane came along and dumped a bunch of rain which softened up the soil. There was not much damage and I think I could have set it back up in more concrete. I se

Because you are in an area where icing can occur, Rohn 25 would not be self supporting at 40 feet. In icing conditions the wind load rating for a 70 MPH region is 2.5 square feet at 30 feet and no an

uh, 2' by 2' by 4' deep. About .7 yard of concrete. Rohn 25 is self-supporting up to a very short height, depending on the wind load. I don't have my catalog handy, but at 70 mph, it's about 30-35 fe

My old Rohn catalog has a CB-1 concrete base which is 2' x 2' x 4'. That is what I am using for my 70' tower (guyed at 35' and 65'). Been through two hurricanes, Andrew and Katrina.. ________________

Probably the most uncomfortable tower experience I ever had was while putting up 90 feet of 25G. I walked up the first 20 feet and guyed that off. Then installed the next 10 feet plus permanent guys.

I had a similar experience. My 70 ft, Rohn 25G tower has two sets of guys. It seems like more temporary guys would be appropriate. 73 de Ken - K5GUU _______________________________________________ __

Hi all, I don't want to be critical of anyone, but am I getting correctly the sense that installation protocols for R25, if they don't already, should stipulate interim guys at intervals less than 30
