I know that all(?) steppir's in Greece have this problem and i have heard that everyone buys a new one replace the rubber boots with teflon (not sure). Ofcourse is one of the best antennas even it is

Just cover the boots with Butyl pond liner and you will have no UV problems - the stuff is rated for fifty years. I wrapped it about the boots on my SteppIR and no more UV issues. Tom N4NW __________
