Thanks to Roger and George... We CAN bring this thing vertical, without killing ourselves. And if we're able to get the top section off, to permit swinging the upper section alongside the lower part

OK... Thanks to all who commented on the 25g takedown. I got a couple of good ideas, and a few important reminders/caveats about safety and the value of bucket trucks. I value those. For the curious,

<snip> I wouldn't do anything to stress that hinge, nor would I want one that had been "dumped over". Dropping one even 30 feet can put a lot of stress on it that may not even show. Generally you can

I lowered a 100ft Rohn 25 with one cable and 73 Jeep. The previous owner had the tower installed for about 15 years using aluminum ground wire...believe it or not. He had a tri-bander and a pair of 8

It's probably as good as the soft guy wire sold by some outlet/chain stores. We used some to help align a 50 foot TV tower as we pulled it up. Two men pulling on it pulled the 3/16 soft, stranded ste

I think your intuition is right Gary. If you think of the tower weight of 400 # being concentrated at the 1/2 height level of 10 ft, there is a leverage situation working against your truck tailgate

In most areas, only 3-4 feet are allowed to hang over the rear/front bumper or the locals start revenue distributon (tickets). Unless you have a rack on the truck that extends beyond the cab, you'll

I think by hearing how difficult it sounds to take down plus the fact that is a USED tower I'd get the sawzall and lay it down that way.Not all used tower is bad but I'd be leary of most used towers.

A wt51 is probably too heavy to allow on top of a truck cab, unsupported. Similarly, in a layover situation, that 400 lbs (if that's the correct weight)... will be amplified by a 10' lever, and you'l

As Master Card would say.... Drop tower on truck - buy new truck-$30,000 Rent crane with operator who knows how. Puts tower on rented trailer that can hold it- $500 to $1000. Go home with all origina

Here in California you have a bit more leeway for loads on your vehicle. The overhang allowed in the rear is 2/3rds of the wheelbase. On my truck that is about 10 feet. This provision was mainly for
