Friends, Just thought I'd share my latest thoughts about how I can afford a tower AND have enough money left to put antenna(s) on it. I'm very close to buying a Tryon Titan T400 or T500 series self s

(snip) Guyed Rohn 45, 70', 70MPH is only rated for 17.5 sq.ft. How does self-supporting Trylon do 45 sq.ft? (Ya gotta love Rohn's derating. Geez.) -- Chad Kurszewski, WE9V e-mail: Chad_Kurszewski@cs

Actually, if you add in the 8.0 sq.ft. that Rohn has deducted for a commercial antenna mount, you get 23.5 sq.ft. Just FYI. 73, Steve K7LXC -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/towertalkfaq.html

No, 17.5 is including the 8.0 side mount. Rohn specifies 9.5 sq.ft. in the catalog. -- Chad Kurszewski, WE9V e-mail: Chad_Kurszewski@csg.mot.com The Official "Sultans of Shwing" Web Site: http://www

No, that isn't correct either. Yes, amateur yagis are round membered antennas but their wind loading is NOT given in projected areas. Rohn's General Note #2 states: (circled area) Allowable Proj. Ar

The 70' of Rohn 45 in the catalog is guyed with 3/16" EHS cable and has a base reaction of 3,470 pounds. If you go to a 300' tower the base reaction is 14,520 pounds. I think the guy wire size could
