Does anyone have any experience with the OWA design yagis. Is there any advantage other than low SWR and direct 50 ohm feed? I modeled the 15m 6el X 36' boom and compared it to my DX Engineering 15DX

John, If you modeled your beam where did the difference come from? Randy AC7NJ Does anyone have any experience with the OWA design yagis. Is there any advantage other than low SWR and direct 50 ohm f

As far as I remember OWA=optimized wideband array, that would explain it all! Why in the first place use a OWA design on 50 MHz? Not needed with so narrow band. 73 Jim SM2EKM --

KK9A: advantage other than low SWR and direct 50 ohm feed? I looked at the OWA when I was considering retuning my KLM 610's. I could see no significant gain or bandwidth difference for the same boom

Generally speaking, the higher the gain, the lower the Feed Impedance for a split dipole feed. When antennas are tuned to produce a 50 Ohm feed, they give up some gain. The TA33 is a 'classic' exampl

Lots of folks have a problem with the Classic beams having a longer driven element VS the reflector .. due to the feed via coax inserted into the driven element. I do not see a REAL loss of gain via

The gain loss is NOT due to the classic feed (actually a clever idea). The gain loss in SPLIT DIPOLE FED antennas comes from *detuning* the parasitic elements enough to raise the feed impedance to 50
