- In the May, 2003 issue of QST, there is a page 1 advertisement for the new Icom IC-703, an HF QRP radio with the same form factor and front panel design as the IC-706MkIIG. In the ad, Icom seems to t

- I note that the built in tuner only tunes a 50 ohm antenna, also. How many light portable 50 ohm HF antennas are there out there ? I don't think they thought this one out very well. John - K9IJ - Joh

- I just received my May 2003 QST and saw the ICOM ad for the '703 too, Ken. 6 Meters is a "VHF" band, ICOM! And there is considerable QRP activity on 2 Meters and up. I use an old IC-490A for QRP SSB/

- Everybody going to Dayton should stop by the ICOM booth and explain to them the definition of an HT, the fact that they haven't made a VHF/UHF SSB 'HT" in many years, and that the 703 has nothing rea

- Saw the ad. What does the phrase "A VHF/UHF rig is called an HT" mean about the IC-910H? Are they now selling a battery pack for it? What about a rubber duck? Don, NL7CO operators: were _____________

- I think they should have done a bit more market research. One of the reasons I bought an FT-817 was BECAUSE it had a built-in HT! When I bought it, I assumed that I would use it mostly for two thing

- To add to what some of the others said, ICOM really goofed on this one. All they had to do was go to the FT-817 group archives and see the wish list of items for a mk II. If the 703 had all-mode VHF/

- Sounds like some of us want the inverse of the 703, a "709". No HF, but would have 6m, 2m, 432... maybe it would be a "cheap" radio then? Would that make room for 220 or 1296 or maybe 900? Oops, that

- It's funny how times change. Back in the early 80's it was Icom who took VHF/UHF SSB/CW seriously when the others didn't, now they seemed to be dropping the ball pretty left and right for some reason

- I think maybe the manufacturers should read this reflector. Then they might get an idea of what to sell. I for one would like to see a manufacture support the 222 band with an all mode. 6, 2, 432 see
