FM is a much lesser used mode on VHF contests for reasons already stated. But if you have nothing else for a particular band than fm and can make some Q's by using it, great! The use of repeaters is

Bill, I think by the ARRL VHF rules, any repeater frequencies should not be used: 1.7.Retransmitting either or both stations, or use of repeater frequencies, is not permitted. Jack WA2IID -- Original
