I would like to be able to do lookups with the FCC database, which is downloadable free from the internet. Other programs I have allow this. Simply put the desired callsign in the entry box and hit t

Personally, I think this would just be another distraction. After all this is a CONTEST logger, I use DX4Win for my QSLing. Leave this type of thing for that type of program. Jim Rhodes K0XU jim@rhod

Personally, I would resist making the BEST CONTEST LOGGER anything else. Such functions are great and I use them in products such as Logic6. But here it is very important to focus on contest function

I tend to agree. I use Logic for normal QSL chores and general log management. WL is a superb contest logger, so why add more complication? Gary: Off topic, but I just say your name in the reply line

Why would this have to add complexity? What is the difference between this and the master data file. It would just , in effect, expand the master data file. It could even be done in a way that would

Writelog = contest program. Contest goal = maximize score Maximize score = minimize wasted time Larger database = slower lookup time. Slower lookup = not maximizing score ergo, Use your DXing/logbook

I am not aware of any program which uses the FCC database. How about their names? First of all, the CD based programs are not obsolete in a week or two. With Buckmaster, you are given 6 ( or 12 ) mon

Not to beat a horse to death, but if you want the callsign from a database, why dont you download 'logger32"? this is a very good general purpose logging program that has MMTTY for rtty. It does a lo

I think the callsign database lookup is a cool idea. Maybe for HF contests it doesn't have much value. But I could see where such a function in a VHF/UHF contest could be of use. I'm not a big contes

Hummm... I agree to people telling Writelog is a contest logging program, not specially oriented to general logging work. Anyway, one year ago, I developed a "fake radio driver" wich looked at the Bu

I'm taking a stab here, but I'd figure the file is at least a couple of orders of magnitude bigger. Not what I want bogging down my PC in the middle of a 100+ hour, for sure. Blake N4GI

Well, as a matter of fact, I am compiling a new RTTY master and friend file, and the master is about 31,000+ bytes at this time. Took a look at the FCC database with just the call and names decoded,
