I too have a problem 8800 that drops out and am left with only a flashing display. I am a Tech. but unfortunately do not have a sig. gen. now (Retired),but do have the Service Manual. Mine sometimes

Hi Eric, The FRG-8800 flashing display does indicate PLL unlock and possibly a bad crystal or VCO that has failed. One thing you may try is to look at the VCO's on the Main board on the bottom of the
