I read somewhere that you should use CONTROL PANEL, ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and remove the older version before installing the latest version. I always do this except I save the old files on a ZIP drive

Using WIN98SE here on my contest/logging PC. After removing the older version, CTWIN goes away after a couple of seconds in the ADD/REMOVE window. Maybe try closing the window then reopening and see
