They are great antennas !! I have used two (the 10 element version, 14MHz-30MHz, one at 60 feet, one at 120 ft.) Excellent mechanical design, good material. Have compared it to a 4-element monobander

Hi Tom and Group, I agree that an S-unit relates to a significant amount of gain. I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, but I imagine that the author felt the LPDA was a good compromise. Cover
