Hello Gents If the only option is bury radials about three feet deep in a field that is plowed, is it worth doing for another quarter wave vertical. ? I dont mind the work if the results are worth it

Alan, I'm not sure how effective the radials would be if buried that deep. They need to be on or just below the surface. The purpose of the radial system is to shield the radiating vertical element

The ideal depth for radials is on the surface of the ground but in the broadcast industry we normall bury them about 4" (10cm) below the surface. We have two stations where the radials were buried in

So from ur msg, can we assume that the only reason radials are buried is for safety? I have radials on the surface only because it would be too difficult to bury them and the area they are in does no
