I have been thinking about purchasing a drone. It just occurred to me that I might be able to use it to install antenna wires. A row of trees separates my lot from my neighbor's. The row is about 150

If I had a 65 foot high tree I dont think the MA160V would even be on the shortlist. Regards Paul MM0ZBH _________________ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector

If you get a good drone (such as DJI Phantom) you can tie 1/4" rope to drone leg and take it up and over tree. I set rope in 90' tree at FD this year using this method. Be careful bringing the drone

I bought two under-$200 drones, and sent back both for a refund. (I have also used slingshots/fishing reels/lead weight.) Neither of those worked as well as the pneumatic launcher that I bought from

I made my pneumatic launcher, info was in a QST a few years back. I made a larger one than written up in QST, the smaller one worked fine. You can see it at the bottom of my QRZ page. I shoot 30 poun

Hi All, As a alternative to a drone, I would recommend an Arborist Sling-shot, namely https://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/6687 and https://www.sherrilltree.com/climbing-gear/throwlines-weights/bigsho

A friend has one of these which makes shooting a tennis ball with fishing line attached over a tree very easy indeed. http://www.antennalaunchers.com/antlaunching.html Richard G3OQT _________________

The one thing that scares me with the tennis ball launcher is the risk of the plastic air reservoir exploding - probably not a problem with new pipe but as the pipe ages I would expect the pipe to be

David, That is a worthy question and one I asked myself before engaging in making this. I used schedule 40 PVC pipe and it has a significant pressure rating. There are other pipes with a higher ratin

I meant to add, I keep my spud gun inside and have no UV concerns about it becoming brittle. If I did, it would be easy to re-manufacture the pressure chamber and make a new one as often as you think

I stick to max 80psi which has a good safety factor vs the pipe rating (4" @220psi in my launcher). Very cold weather and knocking it around when brittle or anytime is certainly to be avoided. An alt

Thanks for the data on the sch 80 pipe - I assume that the 300+ psi figures are working pressures which should give a good margin. It was the thought of having shards of PVC embedded in your body aft

The specs are for a maximum pressure at a specified temperature, usually 72 degrees F. PVC softens with temperature so the ratings degrade with temperature. It is usually not used for hot water servi

It looks ugly, but schedule 80 wrapped in many layers of duct tape will launch your projectile of choice with "relative" safety. Don W4DNR Thanks for the data on the sch 80 pipe - I assume that the 3

Grant is exactly right about the cold & knocking it around. Last winter I was out in freezing weather and bumped the end into a rock. The PVC broke in the valve where the PVC is threaded in. I had to

Ed, The reason I now only use the spud is I have no single easy tree to get over, it's a forest I have to shoot into, and the arrow is too light to bring itself down through the branches with a fishi

Actually Gary, if you added the weight to the front of the arrow as I describe, it drops right through all the branches no problem, but has accuracy. Trust me, I know. I have missed a shot or 2, clea
