OK Lets first say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Now, I just made a 9:1 transformer from a donut ferrite (I am pretty sure it is Amidon 43 if I remember what he said) that another Ham sent me (I

Bob, That is perfectly good looking transformer. Don't worry about baluns (not needed for a beverage anyway) and other stuff people peddle. Try it! If it works you are there! George AA7JV PS: You may

Two things to add to this that may or may not be important this is not terminated at the far end This ground is not a stake in the ground at the end of the wire, it is actually tied to the end of one

That is NOT a good thing. Don't do that! You want no coupling to your transmit antenna. Disconnect it and drive a stake, even if it's not a good stake or a long stake. Yes, as George said, you defini

Radials on the ground are not resonant. In that application you don't care about resonance as they are simply a device for collecting the return currents and increasing conductivity in the ground. Q

The only resonance effects occur when the radial system is insufficient to provide a proper return. No matter the length of the radials, when there are enough radials that the spacing between the en

Yes. That's what I said -- "especially with only a few radials." I'd bet that the vast majority of radial systems consist of 4-8 radials. Remember that most hams live on small lots. Yes, I have 60+ r

Many hams have very limited space for a radial field... If they can only get 8 or 12 radials on the ground, then they need to read Rudy Severn, N6LF carefully, until they understand what his research
