I have done it both ways; no big deal. One thing you should consider, however, is the strands -- once split -- get much more tangly and difficult to handle thanks to the steel wire.Good luck!Mark --

Good question Gene. Id "think" leaving the two together inside the pvc jacket would help protect them from wx and mechanical damage for a much longer time. The downside is it would be much more visib
