It depends on that specific countries rules. ARRL is not allowing automated contacts for their awards programs anymore. If the station is running on itself UN-attended. Is that just not even legal. N

Packet radio ran unattended for most guys many years ago. I could be at the store and the DX callouts would come and my radio would acknowledge them. I don't remember this being illegal or immoral...
