Well, I got some interesting answers to my original inquiry about the FT-2000 vs. Orion II. In one I was told to check out the Omni VII. So, lets toss that in to the equation too. I didnt consiter it

Steve, Have you considered the software defined radios, like the new Flex-5000A, or the older SDR-1000? http://www.flex-radio.com/ Cost-wise they compare well with the top-of-the-range legacy radios
