Was really discouraging listening to N5RZ at 2345Z running east coast guys I
couldn't hear a whisper of !
20 was horrible at the start. No direct propagation to anyone but K7SS(/KH6).
S&P was the only thing that worked - and only if I didn't get beat out !
Called many eastern USA stations who just CQ'd in my face. Pretty obvious who
has good ears/RX ! KE3Q much louder than any other east coast station on
backscatter. After 30 minutes of agony, I went to 40, answered K0HUU's CQ, and
had that satisfying mini-pileup when I finished that QSO. Spent the next hour
alternating between 40 and 20. 20 would selectively open to Texas or W6 for a
few minutes, then die. 40 was super FB. Kept going back there even in the
last hour. Heard KP4TK and a VE6, but no QSO. Someday I'll sacrifice rate and
work a CO on the low end of 40 !
Finally seem to have the hang of using TRLog, but didn't try to use its 2-radio
capabilities. Maybe in September.
Should we consider moving the February Sprint to 2300Z ? September is okay at
0000Z. (For you newbies, until the bottom of the last sunspot cycle, Sprint
ran from 0100Z-0500Z).
