Comments: After doing the IARU pretty seriously last two years (at AA4NU
last year and W1ZM the year before that - boy this shore-duty stuff is nice),
had too many distractions this year. 15th anniversary Friday, baseball game
on Saturday AM (son plays, I coach), wife and I take son to movie
(Independence Day-fun flick) since he was going away to camp this week,
daughter had 13th birthday/party on Sunday (she wanted boy-girl pool party,
man these next few years are going to be rough!!!). Decided to at least get
in a few hours and try new 5el 10M beam (105BA/N6ND-mod at 60'). Just about
fell out of my chair when I heard 9H0A at 1215Z! He QRTed and didn't hear
any others. Did catch 10m opening 2200-2300Z and worked 10 EU. This
opening has been fairly consistent here in middle TN this summer. After movie
I found myself falling asleep at operating chair at 0430 just as I was
starting to catch some of the WRTC gang so I quit and went to bed. Had to get
up early Sunday but no chance to operate. Congrats to all, this is a FUN
contest!!
