Comments: I was going to operate from NH7A's place for this weekend, but
a last minute change of plans scrapped that. So, I went to my "home away
from home" at W6GO (thanks again, Jay and Jan) and decided to do an "iron
man". After all the chest-pounding on the reflector about how "real men
don't operate assisted", I decided to do just that. I usually operate
multi-op in DX 'tests. and this was my first real attempt in 20 years to
"go the distance". I ended up being on the air for about 44 hours, all
in all it was a success.
80 meters was really great, especially the first night. I saw east coast
packet spots for Europe while it was still light here, I listened and
heard loud signals. I worked EU on 80 before I did on 40! Big surprise
to hear ZD8Z S9+20 on 10 meters for a long time.
Only used single radio, amp and computer. I doubt, given the activity
level, that a second radio would have helped much. Band changes were
pretty easy with no filters in the exciter-amp cable.
