Soap Box:
Had set a goal of 2000 qsos , however fell a bit short
of that mark ! Work associate decided to drop by on
Saturday afternoon in the middle of one of my better runs.
After one hour of my feeble attempt to socialize he decided to
leave. Ergo at least 100+ qsos down the tube.
It seems that this contest attracts fewer North American stns
to pad the qso totals than the others or mebbe they were all on SSB !
My 15 meter mono bander plays very well but is not yet rotatable
so my decision to keep it in a fixed position between Europe and Asia
seemed to get the most out of it.
No 160 meter antenna YET so that cost a few mults.
80 meters was a lonely place to be only 103 qsos
although the band was reasonably quiet from here, and European sigs were
quite good, I guess every body was on 20 & 15 where the bands were open all
night .
Lashed up a bit of wire for 40 on Saturday Morning just before contest
time and was rewarded with calls from 1 vk zone & a loud 8q7 as the
dx reward for this effort.
As usual didn't spend enough time in S & P mode so missed a few easy
mults , in fact even missed the RSGB mult on all bands, that should
be a gimme from here.
30 + Dupes and logged them all.
I think I got my moneys worth of qsos for the amount of aluminum
and wire used, no time to prepare antennas for this test as spent
the previous three weeks in British Columbia dodging rain drops !
10 meters continues to remain a mystery !! From here even under the worse
summers conditions there is always some North- South propagation,
the most stations heard were W1s.via Sporadic e. and some
very faint Europeans. Only had two stations logged on all five bands.
Beginning to wonder if ten will ever open this cycle.
Effort was almost identical to last years so I must have maxed
out the present extractable potential of this station , time for some
bigger antennas and a beam for 40 !!
Thanks for all the QSOs hope see you all next one.
