Comments:
Operated from my home station after years at guest operating. Rushed up a
dipole for 40 meters: Lead-filled tennis ball with leader line over 40' trees
at 2100 Saturday (Inverse corrolary to Murphy's Law - of course it performed
great!!) Ham IV still turned the TH6DXX, but without any direction indication.
Solution: Leave beam ENE from here in Kansas City area for most of contest. But
made several (OK - lots!) of trips up from the basement to check where antenna
was pointed - important while chasing Jay in YT, and then sweating out ND
(Thanks K0VX for Section 80!). Tried to be hospitable when out-of-town
relatives showed up un-announced. My discussion of the new WCF section was lost
on them! Only got in about 14 hours of operating time, but, like we say here in
Kansas, Toto...There's no place like home! Thanks, everyone! 73 Bill K0VBU
