Comments:
We had a blast during 10 days of J75KG operation. Spent the first two days
putting up the antennas, intersperced with running pile ups and enjoying Kubuli
807's. CQWW was the overall highlight for the trip. Conditions were
excellent, and impacted only by a flare on Saturday which pulled a lead curtain
over the Dominican sky and a three and one half hour island power outage at the
peak of Sundays 10 meter European run. The biggest trill, other than working
many exotic multipliers, was the Sunday morning European sunrise on 80 meters.
It lasted a full 45 minutes, and signals sounded like those on 20 meters.
Strangely enough the run station's keyboard quit during this run, so the
contacts had to be manually keyed and logged, just like the good old days.
Early in the contest, the local police stopped to inquire about open wire
feeder we had over the road in front of our cottage. The caretaker told them
that this was 9 volt ham radio wire and totally safe! They bought the
explanation and went away.
