Comments:
Two full time operators and six part time operators made this one a little
difficult...but we had fun...Made a large bowl of the "famous nq4i contest
soup" ....added a few new ingredients this year for added flavor...ie tantulum
capacitors adde tremendously for flavor and help with roughage...we put the B&W
850 pi-network in while the soup was cooking...but it must be removed just
before serving....we will be trying other ingredients next year...maybe
somebody will send me their recipe for consideration...hi...on a more serious
note the door prize of an Alpha 87a was wond bu KS4Q...but he had left before
the contest was over and so the prize will roll over till next year...the LIST
award (Longest InSeat Time) goes to to W7FB...he was anchored securely in the
15m chair for a lots of hours...The addition of N3XX at the last minute for 40m
was appreciated...we had two main full time operators who cancelled the night
before the contest...giving us a pretty lean crew...Storms hit Middle Georgia
about 30 minutes before the contest started...the first one lasted about 2
hours and then a second line of storms came through about 11pm that night
too...its hard to make qso's with precip static, corona, and lightning
discharges all around...we figure about 2-4 hours of reduced operating time...
two of our part time operators were primary ssb ops who came by to watch and
were pressed into service...K4Pk has a cw speed of 20 wpm now thanks to some
time on 10m late in the contest....All in all...good food, fairly decent
conditions( best in a long time for 160), good operators(could have used 2 more
full time) and a good time had by all....station will be qrt for arrl
ssb...look for NQ4I in wpx ssb in March....de Rick nq4i
