Comments:
I got just about the full 24hrs in. The first four hours were consistently
good on 10m/15m...109, 90, 109, 109. Based on my experience last year I
skipped right over 20m and went to 40m early. I made a move to 20m at 02Z to
avoid the total ZOO on 40m and 75m which paid off in a 103 hour on a very
quiet band working west coast. At the end of that hour I was 75 Qs ahead of
last years pace. Over the next four and a half hours I lost it all. I went to
bed at 0830Z 15 Qs behind last years pace!!!
I had trouble making things work on 40m this year. Fatigue piled on me early
and I felt easily frustrated. The second day I lost another 38 Qs on the
previous year.
I certainly worked hard for my Qs. Only 9% of my contacts were either raw S&P
or on the second VFO. A second radio (and the associated hardware) would have
helped A LOT. That needs to be a priority for my station to compete in this
contest.
