Amazing opening on Saturday afternoon/evening. Only running 100 watts and a
simple dipole antenna on 6 and a 6 el. yagi on 2. Essentially a rover setup but
I didn't go anywhere past my back yard. Many ops thanked me for the new grid so
I am expecting a mailbox full of cards very soon. We have some local activity
here but never heard any of them. Some of the signals heard were very strong -
S9+ and I received similar reports so the propagation was excellent to all
parts of the country. I suspect that many records fell. In contrast, there was
not much activity on 2 meters but considering the 6 meter conditions, that is
not surprising.
