Comments:

This turned out well considering the conditions. We had major electrical
activity in the area, but no rain. 80M seemed impossible at times, 40M was off
and on. 20M was surprisingly good. Great first two hours, slow finish!

Prior to the contest, I retired my old DOS computer after finding way too many
bad sectors on the hard drive. I found that all the drive problems resulted in
some of my archives being corrupted, but I was able to bring out most of my
files and put them on my "new" Win 98 machine. I set up the computer for
general QSOs and for this Sprint. Everything seemed to be working right, and I
did a practice session using an old Sprint log and everything seemed normal.

About three QSOs into the contest, I realized that only the QSO numbers and the
names were going into the log, not the multipliers. (Still trying to figure out
what caused this. So much for tracking mults and total score! I decided I'd
write down the sections by QSO number, sort of a hybrid logging effort. I
thope I got it all correct. I was able to account for all the mults I had
worked at the end of the contest, so I think the score should be pretty close.

Heard but missed Md, Mt and VY1, where were our Caribbean friends? Amazingly,
my last multiplier worked was ILLINOIS! Where were the Fightin' Illini?

I did a lot of work on the station layout and on inter-radio interference
issues, everything worked great other than the computer glitch. I'm gradually
working my way back into contesting, and look forward to seeing you in the
pileups!

Paul, K5AF
