Comments:
The station has been needing more maintenance as time goes on-- as things do!
One of my original prop pitch rotators stopped working a few months ago and I
determined that the gearbox needed a rebuild. Hey, it's only been in
continuous service for 29 years!
I wanted to build up a new system and swap it in when I pulled the old one out,
and do it all with one climb (140ft). This was accomplished one week before CW
SS, with occasional assistance from my favorite groundman-- er, groundwoman.
Jane is the best!
>From the southwest corner of the country, it is nice to have two antennas on 20
meters. I usually park the lower one (60ft) at Ohio, but often have the high
one pointed north (for elusive mults, and to rattle those sleepy Seattle guys
out of their coffee-houses). So, getting the top rotator working again for SS
and beyond was a motivator for me.
After nearly 50 years of participating in CW SS, this event remains for me one
of the most inspiring on the calendar. Thanks to everyone for all the QSOs.
Special thanks go to the crew behind the scenes (NN1N, KX9X, and K5KA). Even
K1ZZ made it into the log. They keep the traditions going, better than ever!
