Comments:

Another one in the books. The excellent fun was preceded by our annual week
prior with K7NV coming out to help make everything work. Lots of hours on the
towers and tireless work by Kurt to hide the fact that I am the original slob
about the shack.

We all feared the worst with the conditions but with the exception of 160, we
were able to make at least an attempt to be in the race. AA0RS dogged top band
and performed small miracles to make the totals that we wound up with.

Eighty was as tough as I can remember. I hate it when potential mults CQ in my
face but I really had to get used to it. All in all I was surprised with the
final score on 80. Had lots of help from AA0RS and others on 80.

Forty was excellently manned by Kurt in the main chair and many others in the
mult position, noteably KV0Q and W0ZP. I am really happy with the big score
here.

Twenty meter run position was manned by W1XE on day one and W0ZP on day two
while W0DLE and WB0GAZ held down the multiplier position. I was pleased with
the fine effort on this tough band from CO. It is nice to have so many ops that
can plug in on any band and make a good contribution.

Fifteen was mainly operated by W2UP during the daylight hours and dogged by
W0ZP in the later hours. There were a few problems with RF getting into the
keying and some computer crashes, many of which were finally explained by
noticing that the keyboard had an extra button on it, just above the esc button
that has a half-moon icon on it. I always thought that you pushed that one when
you had to use the bathroon, but alas it meant that wou wanted the computer to
sleep and it could only be revived by rebooting. In spite of that frustration,
Barry did an excellent job of keeping his cool and making an excellent score.

Ten Meters was manned by KV0Q on day one as run operator with W0ZP on the mult
rig. On day two, W1XE ran while many, including KV0Q, W0ZP chased mults.
Openings were short and weak so lots of the contacts that were made were
laboriously logged by search and pounce efforts.

We were down in score a bit this year with the biggest deficits on 10 and 160
meters. I guess you can't fight conditions very much. Luckily, 40 was good and
Kurt, et al managed to pull out around 100 more Qs this year. I think it was
the extra 15 radials that we installed under each 4 Square vert!

That's all for now. See you next year, God willing.

73,

Chuck for the K0RF team
