Comments:

After several months of preparations, the unique callsign OF100HQ hit the
airwaves in the IARU HF World Championship last Saturday. The callsign
reflected Finland's centennial celebration of its independence this year, and
naturally endowed the operators with a particular sense of national pride and
gratitude.

During the past 100 years, Finland as part of the Nordic nations has developed
into the home of one of the world's most happy, secure, and technologically
advanced people. So indeed there is much for us to be grateful for.

The stations participating in the HQ effort were located throughout Finland,
and for the first time, all of them were networked in Win-Test configuration.
This provided great camaraderie, particularly through the chat window. Even the
"graveyard" shift workers got to enjoy a rapidly evolving log although
all they could do was press F1, eat rye bread, and cheer others on!

The network worked flawlessly, the stations worked flawlessly much of the time,
and we fortunately avoided all thunderstorm-related problems. Band conditions
were lousy, but even with less than 100 years of radio operating experience,
we've "gotten the message" about that by now... :)

Station locations and operators were as follows:

OH1F -- 40SSB, 15SSB, 10CW (op. OH1HS OH1MM OH1NOA OH1TM)
OH1TX -- 80SSB (op. OH6KZP)
OH2BH -- 80CW (op. OH2BH OH2MM OH7EA)
OH2PM -- 40CW (op. OH2PM OH1MA)
OH5Z -- 160SSB, 20SSB, 15CW, 10SSB (op. 4O3A 9A5K OG9X OH2BU OH5CZ OH5TS OH5WH
OH6MW OH6XX)
OH8X -- 20CW (op. OH0XX)
OH9W/OH2BCI -- 160SSB (op. OH2BCI)

Thanks to everyone for the QSOs, especially the 21 stations with all 12
band/mode slots worked. Thanks also to all station hosts, and particularly to
Timo OG9X, Timo OH1NOA, Martti OH2BH, and Juha OH6XX for the general
preparations related to the operation. QSL via OH2BH.

On behalf of the team,
Kim OH6KZP
