Love this contest! Great operators and great fun.
Looking at the top scores, it feels like I was in a different contest. Oddly, I
never worked one ND, NE, DE, or BC station on any band. 10m was open only to CO
and no where else. 15m was open, but the band was thin.
20m was great in the morning and afternoon, but by late afternoon, static
crashes increased and signals took a nose dive. When signals came back later,
the static crashes remained, but most stations moved to 40m.
Speaking of 40m, the long daylight hours this time of year make it a challenge
on the low bands. It doesn't get completely dark until almost 10:00 PM, and the
contest ends at 11:00 PM. That means CQing on 40m during broad daylight.
For the first couple of hours, 40m suffered from deep QSB coupled with 59+20
static crashes. It was really a challenge to pull some stations out and I had to
completely give up on some stations. Thanks to those for your patience and
repeats.
