Comments:

Ugh! I've been exclusively a low power contester for almost the past 30 years.
Over that time I've developed a sense of when a DX station is workable with 100
watts and when it's a waste of time trying to break a pileup.

Stations that are usually easily workable required multiple repeats of my call
sign. The EU stations that are usually loud weren't. Copied 5 BY and 2 VR
stations, but none of them could hear me. Only heard 2 Canadian stations - one
responded to my very brief period of CQing and the other (in Zone 2) was never
able to copy my complete call.

However, I do appreciate the perseverance of ops who stuck with me to complete a
QSO when QRM/propagation were tough.

Equipment:
Icom IC-7610

SteppIR DB-36 at 70 ft
Optibeam OB16-3 at 50 ft
Simple A/B switch between antennas
