Comments:

Altho we had hi hopes following the ARRL CW contest, prop to EU was
underwhelming to say the least. Read everybody's comments. But it didn't have
to be that way.

My 10-pointer count to EU was way down, but actually those that called in
sporadically were pretty loud. But where were the usual big gun EU multis? Or
many of the EU big gun single ops? TA1 and EA9/ etc., i.e., were plenty loud.
But the EU 100-watters had no faith. Perhaps phone operation on Top Band may
still be perceived as an anathema in EU.

Yeah, it was a bummer with no strings of EU Qs...no EU SR enhancement that I
could see. Many of my EU mults -- even common ones -- were singletons. At
12:30 AM the first night, a dark curtain draped over the band causing what
seemed like 1-way skip. I quit for 3 hours sleep. That put me down over 100 Qs
from last year. Lot to make up.

Going into day 2, West Coast prop was challenging. I still had not even worked
California. In the wee hours I managed two ESP CA Qs. So no VK/ZL (sorry I
missed you ZL2OK)...no BC...no KH6 (where were you Lloyd?). Did manage to work
all the contiguous states except SD and WY.

Last year I shut down Sunday post SR 10 Qs short of an even 800. So I did the
last hour Sn PM to get 10 more but ended up with 799. This year my Q count was
11 short of 800 after staying up all night. Same drill: get on for the last
hour. This time with just one minute to spare, W1HR brought me across the
finish line of 800 Qs.

Why do we punish ourselves so?
