Comments:
So normally WPX CW @N6WIN is reserved for Dan/N6MJ Single Op, but after a very
successful WPX SSB Dan decided that it might be interesting to try for another
M/M. With the permission of our station host N6WIN, our fearless leader N6MJ
called in the calvary consisting of some of our repeat offenders N6WIN, KL9A,
NN1C, W6PH, and W9KKN with special celebrity guest appearances from KN8U, N2IC,
N5ZO, and N6AN.
We assembled a dream team of operators, thought a bit about what improvements we
could make from the last attempt at this, and got to work. The station that Tim
has been putting together over the last few years seems to make propagation even
in marginal condx.
For those not in the know, NN1C and W9KKN have been heavily leveraging the MOAS
(Mother Of All Switches) by K1XM for a major station automation project and some
seekrit ND7K-only antenna switching tech. Paul was kind enough to listen to
Marty just long enough to build some features that were very specific to what we
were trying to do and we owe him serious kudos for an excellent implementation
that we were able to take full advantage of. We also used DXLog, which these
days is also Paul code (with help from many others, of course.) Contesting runs
on K1XM.
We had Hector XE2K/AD6D make a special trip for us between SSB and CW and he
installed a new JA stack on 15m which consisted of 2 7el OWA's at 120 and 90
feet. This stack worked really well and we are grateful that Hector was able to
fit us in his busy schedule.
Congrats to our friends at NR6O for putting up another great score in Zone 3.
Its great to have other competitors in this class and we appreciate them putting
in another excellent effort. We know these guys have been mostly remote for the
last year or so and it was our understanding that this is one of their first in
person multiops since the pandemic -- we hope Ken and the team enjoyed it!
We used IC-7610's and Inrad W1 Headsets and as usual they continue to be great
performers, and, of course, we still have a lot of seekrit audio switching
technology that we use from our great friend, K6AM.
