Comments:

Total scramble at the beginning trying to get some traction running. With high
bands open, it is hard. However I was able to piece together some solid first
hours hoping that darkness would bring everyone to 40 and 80.

New weapons this year were added with 10 and 15 OWAs and an 80m Yagi. The 80m
Yagi is not a yagi yet as I have more tuning to do, so it was just a rather
large High Q dipole! I just wanted to see how it compared to the other antennas
normally used.

High winds and storms were in the area and kept me a bit nervous. The storms
moved through and winds calmed down. I was shocked at the power failure in the
second hour though and that had me at low power for a bit as it flickered and
carried on for a while. Not enough for the generator to kick in but good grief
it distracted me away from the operating position for several minutes getting
things in order. Lost some QSOs for sure.

Good news is that all the multipliers were present and accounted for in the
first few hours of the contest. Bad part there was nothing but QSOs to find from
then on and Sunday was a long day.

Congratulations to all the big scores out there! You guys rock it. I would like
to thank all those that were on the online scoreboard as that kept me in the
chair and highly motivated. N5RZ and K6LL were the race horses for the first few
hours and then K3MM and K4AB appeared with a vengeance. I don't know how many
times we traded places but it was a blast! It made Sunday more enjoyable.

Thanks for all the QSOs and fun. Thanks also to the ARRL Contest team for
managing and adjudicating our logs.

Too many conflicts this year for SS Phone but will still get a few QSOs in
somehow.

73, Craig K9CT
