I used one on the air years ago Robert, it had 811A or 812 
tubes, depending on what I could find.

My old IMD tester used a pair of grid driven 8877's (now replaced 
with FET's).

Some industrial heating devices use low and medium mu triodes.

What triode were you thinking of using, or what was your idea??
