Also, if one enjoys the refreshing smell of ozone in the shack
from the arcing of the tune capacitor, or heaven forbid, the band
switch, it wouldn't be bad. After several hot switches, a layer of
carbon can build up on the amp out to antenna contacts on the T-R
relay and you can easily be talking with no antenna connected.
There are several fixes for this, depending on the modes, and if QSK 
and/or VOX operation is desired. My favorite all-around fix is the
Ameritron Pin Diode QSK board, which will set you up for all the
new digital modes, QSK CW, and fast VOX operation at speeds much
faster than mechanical relays. It requires minimum modification to
the amp. It can easily be put back in its original configuration
and the Ameritron board reused on your next amp should you ever
decide to part with the SB-220.

(Yes folks, there are cheaper ways ...but not necessarily better
or faster.)
