Igor. -- Nickle-chromium is similar in appearance to tinned copper,
even though the resistance is 50x higher. // I have doubts that Ten Tec
would use a resistance-wire suppressor. To wit: When a Ten Tec Titan
425 owner and *QST* reader (Prose Walker) was unable to solve a
mysterious tank arcing problem, he wrote to me. I sent him a low VHF-Q
suppressor retrofit kit to try. Mr. Walker installed the kit and
reported that the arcing appeared to stop. He wrote to Ten Tec and
reported his finding. Ten Tec wrote back and said they had read the
first article on improved anode parasitic suppressors (*QST*, Oct.,
1988). However, when they tried low-Q VHF suppressors, Ten Tec
discovered that the suppressors became quite hot at 28MHz during AØ
emission. For this reason, Ten Tec removed the low-Q suppressors and
went back to cool-running silver-strap design
